From their website “Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25..” The Trevor Project has undoubtedly saved thousands of lives by providing much needed intervention resources to a vulnerable and underserved population.
Operating since 1973, PFLAG was created by a mother to support her gay son. Since its founding, it has grown to become the largest support organization for LGBTQ+ humans. Local chapters help bring the resources of this national organization closer to home. A great website for those desiring to be an ally and supportive. Also a good resource for legislation impacting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people.
Not sure if the church down the street is affirming of the queer & trans community? This site may help. However, please use with caution as there may be churches that are not affirming on this list.
